Gratitude Practice Applies to Skincare

You may have noticed a flurry of gratitude in your Facebook feeds, blogs you read, in self-help articles and books. There are many reasons that acknowledging the good in your life expands those feelings of happiness. Boiled down, being thankful helps you dwell on the more positive aspects of life.

Perhaps you already have a gratitude practice. If you don't, take a moment to remember your blessings. Now take that general sensation and awareness into your bathroom. As you gaze in the mirror, is thankfulness where your thoughts go? For so many, many women, the answer is no. Instead of, "Boy, my skin is glowing today," we might think, "Man, those wrinkles are just getting deeper." Or worse.

White & Elm is seeking to change that bathroom mirror conversation with yourself. We want you to take that time for self care to build your positive thinking too. If affirmations are your thing, say them. If it's just a feeling of well-being, absent any judgements about your appearance, that's great too.

Whatever your negative thoughts about your body, leave them at the bathroom door. Make your nightly ritual about cleansing, supporting, caring for yourself. Feel good that you have made time for your own needs. Try to take that mindfulness with you when you turn off the light.
