In White & Elm's early days, founder Sherelle Reed, spent hours and hours researching ingredients that would do the job without creating side effects like drying or breakouts... actually, she still does that. Every single ingredient included in our handmade skincare serums, cleansing oils, moisturizers, and masks is there for a reason – to benefit your skin. And these ingredients usually do so in at least 2 or 3 different ways. For instance, the oils in our Antioxidant Daily Serum moisturize, reverse aging signs, and protect you from free radical damage. They even offer a bit of protection from the sun, since many of the oils are photo-resistant.
For us, handmade skincare is efficient, elegant, and effective. Our conscious formulating process ensures that the product you use on your face will work without irritating your skin or your sensibilities. That consideration extends to the containers we use (100% recyclable, usually glass). It extends to the farmers and traders we work with (vegan, fair-trade, usually certified organic). And it includes the way we think about our customers and what you need. You need skincare that enhances your natural beauty... that works with your body's natural processes, not against them. So we aim for balancing formulas made in small batches with careful oversight at every step in the process.
That's the White & Elm difference. Try it today.

While you may be cleansing, moisturizing, and applying sunscreen, daily. If you’re not exfoliating, your skin isn’t as healthy as it could be. It is very important to exfoliate your face and body all year round. But after the winter, sloughing away all that dead skin seems even more necessary.
For sure you need to be wearing a daily moisturizer with a minimum of an SPF 15. You also need to look for sunscreens that are labeled Broad Spectrum because this means they have passed specific laboratory testing that shows they protect against both UVA and UVB rays. If you plan to be in direct sun for more than a few hours, please reapply your sunscreen. Also, if you are planning on swimming or sweating heavily opt for a Water-Proof formula as well. It's best to avoid chemical sunscreens altogether because let's face it; we don't want the chemicals we put on our skin to end up in our blood stream. Also, because we don't yet know the impact that nanoparticles will have on our health, it's best to use mineral sunscreens that specifically use non-nano minerals.
