Nature's Secret, Our 10 Ingredient or Less Promise

by Corey Radman December 07, 2014

You know that poem, the one that begins, “I think that I shall never see a poem as lovely as a tree”? It's about the profound beauty and power in nature – a power so awesome that human endeavor pales in comparison.

That's how we feel about the natural ingredients in our products. The power of nature is the secret to White & Elm's formulations. We use plant-derived ingredients for many reasons. Yes, we love that we are benefiting farmers and caring for our planet. We really do. But we also rely on the power of the plant because it works better than lab-created chemicals. So much better, in fact, that we guarantee each product will contain 10 ingredients or less.

There is a school of thought that says organic, plant-based skin care probably isn't powerful enough to really do the job well. Poppycock, we say. Tea tree oil is just as effective at treating acne as its synthetic counterpart, Benzoyl Peroxide. And – bonus – tea tree oil maintains the skin's moisture without over drying. White Willow Bark has been shown to significantly decrease the signs of aging over a 12-week clinical study. We choose seed oils because they are so much more moisture and vitamin rich than any other option.

You can count on nature's power. 10 simple ingredients or less in each skin care product. That's all you need.

While you may be cleansing, moisturizing, and applying sunscreen, daily. If you’re not exfoliating, your skin isn’t as healthy as it could be. It is very important to exfoliate your face and body all year round. But after the winter, sloughing away all that dead skin seems even more necessary.

How to Find The Perfect SPF: Understanding Sun Protection Factor 101

For sure you need to be wearing a daily moisturizer with a minimum of an SPF 15.  You also need to look for sunscreens that are labeled Broad Spectrum because this means they have passed specific laboratory testing that shows they protect against both UVA and UVB rays.  If you plan to be in direct sun for more than a few hours, please reapply your sunscreen.  Also, if you are planning on swimming or sweating heavily opt for a Water-Proof formula as well.  It's best to avoid chemical sunscreens altogether because let's face it; we don't want the chemicals we put on our skin to end up in our blood stream. Also, because we don't yet know the impact that nanoparticles will have on our health, it's best to use mineral sunscreens that specifically use non-nano minerals.
