Oil. Why are we so afraid to use it on our skin? As I said in this earlier post, the right oils are actually GOOD for your skin!
So let’s all just agree that oil based products are, in the very least, worth looking into, okay? Okay!
We’ve already talked about oil cleansers but what about oil-based moisturizers?
Traditional moisturizers are made with a cream or lotion base but those bases are really mostly waxes and water, with a few oils thrown in for good measure. These waxes form a protective layer on the skin, which helps to hold moisture in. Cool, sounds good and all but that waxy layer can easily clog pores and cause breakouts, all the while preventing healthy, natural oils from penetrating the skin. Not so good…
Young-looking, radiant skin is skin at its healthiest and healthy skin means a wealth of oils! As we age, we produce less of the oils that give our skin a healthy glow. So, our job now is to add them back!
When natural and essential oils are applied to the skin, they are absorbed directly into the top layers of the epidermis, where they instantly go to work to repair and protect. The result is healthy, glowing skin and no clogged pores!
Compared to water, wax and synthetic products, natural oils and oil-based moisturizers (Such as our Rosehip & Argan Antioxidant Serum) bring all of the benefits with none of the disadvantage of that waxy build-up.
So… what are you waiting for? Go give oil moisturizers a try!

While you may be cleansing, moisturizing, and applying sunscreen, daily. If you’re not exfoliating, your skin isn’t as healthy as it could be. It is very important to exfoliate your face and body all year round. But after the winter, sloughing away all that dead skin seems even more necessary.
For sure you need to be wearing a daily moisturizer with a minimum of an SPF 15. You also need to look for sunscreens that are labeled Broad Spectrum because this means they have passed specific laboratory testing that shows they protect against both UVA and UVB rays. If you plan to be in direct sun for more than a few hours, please reapply your sunscreen. Also, if you are planning on swimming or sweating heavily opt for a Water-Proof formula as well. It's best to avoid chemical sunscreens altogether because let's face it; we don't want the chemicals we put on our skin to end up in our blood stream. Also, because we don't yet know the impact that nanoparticles will have on our health, it's best to use mineral sunscreens that specifically use non-nano minerals.
